WHERE SHOULD I DONATE TO REALLY HELP HAITIANS?
Friends and family have been asking us this question recently. The short answer is as follows:

Support Haitian-led organizations with a positive track record in building local capacity.

Konbit

Our mission is to help Haitians anywhere invest energy and resources in efficient Konbit activities that bring better quality of life for Haitians everywhere. This powerful Kreyol word, “Konbit”, is rooted in an African tradition of collective farming work which remains vibrant within most Haitian rural communities.

To have direct positive impact, consider supporting the following organizations:

Konbit Pou Port-a-Piment (KPP) (portapiment.com)

The Julia & Jade Foundation (fjuja.org)

We, at AKASAN, are familiar with their work and can attest to the integrity of their board.

I, Jafrikayiti, would advise to stir away from anything UN, Red Cross, religion-based or strongly associated with the Core Group of foreign powers that have been messing with Haiti since the racist bicentennial coup d’état (Feb 29, 2004).
